Hi!

We have two clown loaches. Both a few inches long. Still very active like yours. Our bigger one tends to one day be pale then another full of colour. I often think he is sick but its just his colour. When you say pale...do you mean ghostly white or just a few shades lighter?

Ours still eats fine and swims round fine.

What are you tank dwellers and water stats?

thanks for the reply..........

i will re do water stats today or tomos.........have had the tank for a coupe of weeks now

its been a tricky process as ive bought the tank second hand...............

the filter pump was broke when i bought the tank with the fish,

so ive had to put in a new fluval filter and put the old filters in to get as much media in as poss............

im now doing water changes every other day too.........only thing is i only have the strip test kits which i dont think are any good,

will try and get a liquid test kit poss tomos to get true readings of the water.

thanks

lee

You have only had the tank a few weeks? Have you let it cycle?

sorry.....not sure i explained properly........

this tank has been up and running for a year before we bought it..........

when i picked it up, i bought back half of the original water out of it and put all the old filters in water bags to keep i all good,

when i reset the tank up back at home......i put the 50% of water back in from the original set up........then put the old filters in..........then obs 50% of new water...with tapsafe in it..............

Mine did that before when the water temperature dropped, it was before I had a thermometer and couldnt tell that heater had broke.

Went normal afterwards.

Perhaps its a stress thing. I only have one, dont know if that makes a difference.

I have 4 large (5"-6") clown loaches, they do go pale when in an aggressive state, sometimes, you will also hear a clicking noise.

notwithstanding my suggestion, you may just check the water states also.

I think what you are seeing is the dominant clown loach "graying out"...

if it looks like that then they are fine...its just a dominance issue...also if you have the space, you should try to get more loaches, they like to be in groups of five or more...how big is the tank?
