I want to purchase a new tank and hopefully add at least 3 or 4 Clown Loaches and possibly (at a later date) the community fish that I have in my current tropical setup.

Don't want to go too large, just sufficient enough to be able to add some Clowns as I adore these fish and due to my current tank being too small (65 UK litres) I can't get any yet :(

The room the tank will be kept is also on the small side so I would require a tank that is adequate but not too imposing.

The fish in my current setup are as follows:

3 Peppered Corys
1 Otto
1 Dwarf Gourami
4 Zebra Danio's
also about to add either 6 Harlequin Rasbora's or Cardinal Tetra's

So what size would be ideal for say 4 Clown Loaches (Maximum) and also take into consideration the above community fish may be added to the tank at a later date but not immediately.

As always, thanks for the advice folks :good:

They get big so I would say a 5 foot long tank that is 18+ inches deep and 18 tall

Depends on dimensions. You need a long and wide enough tank for them to turn around. They can get up to a foot long.

Sorry to butt in but I too am considering in getting some Clowns for my new 110 gal. But do they really get that big (12")?? How long would it take for them to get so large? Is it better to get just one or 3+ are they aggressive with each other as they mature?

Well I am no loach expert, but apparently they can actually get up to 2 foot in aquaria... I do believe they grow very slow though. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=173572

read through that post, it talks about how huge they get.

You can't really get only one because they enjoy the company of other clowns.

2ft Sounds a little excessive.. I thought 12" was pretty big for aquarium grown .... theres some stonking ones here...

Squid

a standard 55 gallon tank is usually fine, but sometimes you'll get a big loach you'll need a 75 or something.

I concur 75G is the smallest tank

If you have grandchildren, then they (grandchildren) will probably see the loaches at their full grown adult size of about 12" or more.
