Clown Loach Lighting!

What lights do clown loach prefer,i have two juwel high lite t5 nature bulbs and i feel its too bright for them,

Hiya,

Recently got 6 of the cuties

I use 4x80w T5 5ft long doubles running 8500k for now, this way i can have 2 on 2 off, or with some switch trickery i can have a double running as a single

Anyways ... With these cute loaches, make sure they have plenty of hiding places, not for eg: just plant coverage to get under, i mean solid tube-like items/caves/holey rocks etc where they really can hide away from light

Mine will mosey around in the AM then kinda holdout in shelters in the afternoon, and as i look right at the tank they are now coming busy/fun to watch as it's now early evening

So far i've got a great piece of bogwood with a 3" hole through it, they hide out in it or bury underneath it, also i have 3 amazing holey stones where they will rest on there sides totally wedged in away from it all he he

Then i have water pipe offcuts but they don't seem to use these, then lastly large pieces of mopani wood where they can hide under/in

Ohh and the smallest is partial to a coconut house i made for my large shrimp/rcc

Yeah they defo cute when small.i love it when they lay on their side u can see their chubby tums lol,im gona try blue moon to c if they like,blue moon wont do nout for my plants though would it!!,havent seen the loachy clown dance for months now doh,every morning at 7 ish i find my smallest clown who has a disfigered tail from birth i think,i bought him that way cos i new no one else would,i call him limp clown,anyway i catch him training buzzin up then down again and again so on,every mornin he does it lol,

Lol, sounds like the smallest clown i err we have

I have 2 small pakistani loaches also and 2 Botia Modesta (i believe the generic name is Blue Botia)

After getting the blue loaches, i noticed one had a very small or maybe damaged eye, i'm now sure he can see with it, but really glad i kept it, they would of only got rid of it seeing as it was damaged, so like you i'm glad i can give it a good life

If i can't find anymore decent natural hides for the tank i have an idea

I have seen many diy backgrounds made from quick-crete etc, so i thought of using some plastic (fish-safe of course) piping and making a maze from bends T's etc etc

Then cladding with rockwool or alike, then giving a nice 1" coat of quick-crete and colour to suit, then neutralize or rather wait for neutral ph from soaking/washing etc

It would make for one heck of a cleaning though so i have an idea to use my noodle in the piping interior design so when a powerhead etc is blasted on a pipe opening it would blow and crud out for easier cleaning, as i say it's a last resort but certainly do-able

Ohh, the blue loack we call patch lol, he's still shy but slowly getting more nosey
