I purchased my first fish for my nano reef. It looks both like an Ocellaris and a True Percula, kinda like a mix almost. Well heres my concern. He seems to be struggling in his habitat. He is swimming in place most of the time and I turned the water flow to the lowest it could without being too low for the live rock and mushroom coral. Its almost like hes too weak to fight the current. Now, would an Anemone solve this problem, so it would give him selter? I heard some clowns cant habitat Anemone or something. Since I lowered the movement hes seems to have less of a struggle. Any suggestions, help?

Hi Stingray...that swimming pattern seems normal for mine. I have an ocellaris and several times I thought he was dead and turned out to be just tossing and floating about. Check to see if he is breathing fast? have any skin problems or parasites?

The ocellaris does not need an anemone to survive and keeping any anemone in an aquarium is for experts only...they require extremely high lighting conditions and if they die can pollute the entire system. Good luck. Sh

Alright, sounds good. I think I have a big pest anaemone in my tank now. I will remove it soon. Hes not breathing hard so, I guess hes fine then. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like my clown too. The second night I had him home, I was even chasing him with the net b/c I thought for sure he was a goner. Nope, that little sucker is the best trooper I've got in that tank!

I got him a toadstool leather mushroom to host in instead of an anemone, but instead he insists on sleeping every night in a headstanding position in the front right corner of the tank

He's such a character

WTG Parker..the other night the ocellaris was sleeping on his side near the intake grill...thought he was dead again...NOPE....doing fine. SH
