I HAVE A 64 LITRE TANK, WITH 5 MALE GUPPIES AND 3 JULIE CATFISH. THE TANK HAS BEEN SET UP FOR 3 YEARS IT HAS PLENTY OF HIDING PLACES BUT MY QUESTION IS CAN I ADD CLOWN FISH IF SO DO I NEED TO ADD SALT? B-)

Do u mean the Clown fish as the Nemo?

If so, no u cant. They need specialist marine tanks which need to be set up specialy and these take a long time to establish and be safe for clown's or they will die in days.

they wont die in days...they will die in a matter of hours!
they are pretty little fish but please what ever you do dont place them in a tropical tank they will die.

they require salt water only, not freshwater
if you get one then you will require a marine tank which are pretty expensive and require a lot of care and work.
if you do get one then they do take a long time to acclimatise yes but it can be made to acclimatise even quicker by adding a sea annenomy
:)

Hi everyone,
Clownfish will die in freshwater and julie cories will die in saltwater. I've heard of guppies being kept in saltwater but I wouldn't dare risk it. If you have enough money you could get another tank or sell the cories and guppies and change from fresh to salt properly.

Just a note on your comunity;
I reccomend getting another couple of julie cories, your tank will probobly fit in because my my calculations you're only 53% stocked.

As others have said, clown fish definitely can NOT be kept with freshwater fish. No way. They are marine fish and they environment they need would kill most freshwater fish, and freshwater would kill most marine fish.

There is an excellent marine section on this site so ask there about the kind of tank a clown fish would need if you fancy setting up a new tank.
