clove oil

After euthanizing a fish with clove oil, do you need to freeze the body to make sure they are dead or will the clove oil finish the job on its own?

If the clove oil is strong enough and the fish is in there for long enough yes the fish will die. I always put my dead fish into the freezer "just in case"

When we had to do it recently the fish died really quickly as far as we could tell.

How many drops to use in a small cup ?

i would use alot just to make sure it is defenatly enough otherwise it might not be dead.Then stick in(in the clove oil)in the freezer for a bit.Well thats what i would do.Ive never had to yet though

I was thinking of putting a parrot cichlid down I have never used clove oil before how much do I use..Because it is 17.00 a ounce here. Please someone tell me how to use it. I have never had to do this before and it is killing me also but I cannot let it suffer anylonger...

I'm sure I used more than necessary, but I put about 7 drops in 1.5 cups of water, and that was enough.

He stopped moving within a minute, but the fish I euthanized was too weak to even squirm around when I took him out of the tank. I then left him in the solution for an hour, and decided to be responsible and dispose of him in the trash, still in the clove oil.

I've added 2 or 3 drops every 5 mins in about 0.5ltr of water. Done that for about 30 mins then left the fish for another hour to be sure it's dead.
