hey everyone, I am having a problem with the water in my 30g tank. I have done multiple water changes and a filter change. When I tested the water everything is testing fine and I know for a fact that Im not overstocked. It seems like no matter what I do the water is still cloudy. This tank has been set up for a while and this is the first time anything like this has happened, its becoming vey frustrating :( . any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! :)

By fine what do you mean? can you post the actual readings for amonia/nitrIte/nitrAte, tank dimentions, stock and how long its been running. Also any info on recent additions in ornaments or fish or anything else. Do you have air stones and what filter are you running? I know, so many questions, but the more info, the more likely one of the peeps here can point to your problem.

I will have to measure the dimentions when I get home and test the water again( I'm at work :) ) As for stock there is 1 dwarf gourami,3 Rosy Barbs, 2 sword tails 5 zebra Danios and 2 Rams Horn Snails. And for a Filter I am Running a Top Fin 30 (it came in a kit with the tank). The tank has been up a running (with fish, after cycling) for about 5 months without a problem. there is no new additions either fish nor ornaments.
I think I narrowed it down to either needing another air stone or replacing the gravel in the tank because it seems that there is paint chipping off the gravel. the guy at the LFS said it is not harmful to the fish, but I dint think it can do them anygood either.
thanks again and I will post dimentions and do another water test when I get home :p . Any other info would be appreciated

Paint chipping off the gravel does not sound good, why would gravel need painting? An airstone should not be needed if your filters flow breaks the water surface, that is all that is needed to oxygenate the water. Are your fish gasping at the top for air?

As to the stock, it sounds fine to me. I dont know of the top fin filters so cant help you in that area.

The fish dont seem to be gasping at all, they all seem very healthy. I said the same thing about the paint. the gravel is green, and the green is chipping away. I'm going to switch it out for natural, un painted gravel, or even sand and see if that does the trick. Thanx for all your help! :D

The tank isnt near a window at all, its a whitish kinda cloudy though

Have you treated your tank with any meds lately? Do you have a lot of algae? How often do you feed your fish and how much do you feed them? Have you changed your filter lately? or any gravel? or taken out a lot of anything that may cause the bacteria to die?

Here's a great article of causes and solutions for cloudy water: Cloudy Water
