Cloudy Water!

you ideally dont want to replace sponges unless they are litterally falling apart, there is no need. And as for rinsing just rinse one at a time like you are doing, but just a quick squeeze to remove the loose stuff, sounds like your doing good with that, just wanted to check you werent replacing sponges and plunging yourself into a new cycle etc :)

I've had the filter nearly 8 months now and have only changed one of the sponges once. I regulary "hoover" the gravel so fish waste is kept to a minimum :)
 
Quick update on my stocking issue.

The catfish, 3 rummys and 2 neons moved house to a friends big tank

I got a few live plants too

Since then my levels have been no problem at all!!

I'm even the proud grandmother of 25 (ish) guppy fry who are living happily in another tank in my room!
