hi i am posting this for my mother , she has a juwel tank 5ft quite a big tank , but recently tried to add bog wood ,failed in this atempt due to cloudy water !! so upon removing the wood and few water changes ,they are still having cloudy water ANY ideass on what could be causing this , i no that she wouldnt of tested her water and is feeding TETRA CRISP flakes ?? thanks in advance....
If you can get the water tested and post up the results, you'll find the answer/s you need alot quicker from the almost expert-like users of these forums !
I am suffering the same problem with my recently (5 weeks) cycled, 30L lightly planted corner tank, except i have no bog wood.
Got in from nightshift this morning to find the scene of what looked like my mrs had poured a pint of semi-skimmed into my tank!
Ammonia was at 2, No NitrIte, usual 10/20 NitrAte, 1 Cardinal Tetra 'belly-up' the other 3 fish showings obvious signs of distress, lost one male Amano Shrimp. I carried out an immediate big W/C and found an almost pure white, flakey yet still damp substance on my filter sponge (?) . Ammonina now at 1, no NitrIte and as expected, very low NitrAte, taken after the 3rd water change i have done since this morning.
Apologies for hi-jacking your thread 'Frankie', i thought it would be silly to start an almost exact replica on the same page

.
If you can get to a local fish or aquatic centre/store they can test the water there. Post the results and the theories/ideas/solutions will come flooding in...
As always, any help or replies highly appreciated,
Terry.
