Hi i hope someone can help me.

I have just bought a small aquarium and i set it up 2 days ago the whole tank was fine untill i added the stress coat solution to get rid of the chlorine in the water i woke up this morning to find the water was cloudy and a plastic like smell comeing from the water is this normal

i realy hope someone can put my mind at ease

Need some more information.
Is there any fish in the tank.
Tanks can go cloudy when you set them up due to the substrate, it will clear.
Then you will get a bacterial bloom that will also send the tank cloudy, read up on cycling of a tank.

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
What fish are you thinking of keeping.

The plastic smell a concern did you rinse the tank in salty hot water then rinse well, and let dry out.

Ther are no fish in the tank i was trying the do the fishless cycle

The tank is only small 40 liters

and i was going to keep neons or something similar just some small fish

the tank i used to keep small gold fish in it and they were fine never got a plastic smell from the water the tank was absolutely fine for 2 days untill i added the stress coat after i added that the water went cloudy and started to smell

My filter system is an under gravel filter but not one that uses an air stone the pump is connecter the the undergravel filter with the pipe comeing out the top

Here is a pic

Goldfish need large tanks the first goldfish alone needs a 20 galloon, as they are massive waste producers.
Neon tetra need excellent water quality and mature tanks, and plenty of swimming space as they are shoaling fish.

To be honest you are very limited to what fish you can keep in a 40 litre tank.

If the tanks smelling like plastic I would strip it down and sterlise everything and start again.
I would maybe think of replacing the gravel with some new from the lfs.
