hello :) i was wondering why is my water cloudy, i read the other topic bout cloudy water and it kinda helped me out but not much maybe is the ammonia i tested my water 20 minutes ago and the results

Ammonia : 0.50 (yesterday was 0.25)
high range pH: 7.4 (still the same as yesterday)
nitrate :0.PPM (yesterday was 5.0)
nitrite :0.25 (yesterday was 0.PPM)

does anyone know whats wrong? the color of my water if u view it by the front of it is a white greyish color, but if u view it by the side of it its like yellow greenish :S :S today im going to buy the ammo-lock and maybe a pair of mickey mouse platys to see diferences between the guppies and them , the food that im already giving to the fishes is TetraFin - Tropical Flakes and for the corys TetraFin - Tropical Tablets (for "bottom eaters")

is it the food? or somethin else? this is confusing me :/

THANKS EVERYONE

Your ammonia levels should be at 0. Did you add new fish or dump too much food in at one time?

Normally, the water in a new tank is cloudy. After a while it should get better (provided that your tank is new, of course).

Otherwise a water change is in order unless you're cycling.

Reading your other thread itsounds like the tank is very new...

....the cloudy water is probably from the gravel - nothing to worry about and should settle down in a few days.

I believe your tank is still cycling and would advise against adding any more fish till this has finished - 4-6 weeks.

Be very carefull to not feed too muchand keep an eye on the water particularly ammonia and nitrIte.

Good luck

Given the parameters stated and the white cloudiness, I'm going to guess you are currently cycling the tank. White/grey cloudiness is usually indicative of a bacterial bloom during the cycle. It will go away as the bacterial colony gets established.

How long has your tank been setup?
When did you put all the current inhabitants into the tank?
What filter are you using?

It is vital to keep both the ammonia and nitrite levels as low as possible during the cycle. If either of them gets above 1ppm, I would suggest a 20-25% water change. Do this DAILY if you have to in order to help the fish survive.

Do not, under any circumstances, add anymore fish until your tank if fully cycled. Even then, you're getting awful close to fully stocked, especially if your guppies have fry.

thanx everyone my tank has been set like 5 or 6 days ago the first 3 was by itself since i wanted to do the fishless cycle, but my dad gae the surprise and put the fish before me, i asked about that and they told me either give them to the lfs where my dad bought them or keep the fish and do the cycle with them.... and as my test results weren't that high i kept them , yes you are right i'll not put anymore fish....on the tank......

i washed the gravel before i put it on the tank so that way shouldnt be cloudy, or it does anyway? I have plastic plants, wich I washed too, so i was thinkin it might be the food, going to give them less and tomorrow a water change, my question now it might be sound stupid but im wondering, if you can put water like aquafina ..... cuz its supposed to be de-chlorinated water isnt it? im using a top-fin 10 filter and im going to search for a better cartdrige or that , for the filter , do i need to buy any accu-clear or anything that could change my water to be less cloudy? and another question , do u know about stress coat and stress zyme? well should i put those with the fish in the tank or without'em? i put it the first time without'em.

OH and the last question .... why are my guppies all together all the time? one of them , i think its a male, well hes like separeted from the group and i wachted them today and last nite and the rest of the guppies tried to get close to him speacially one female that i think that oneis pregnat, and well this guppy would like move his tail to get them away and so like they talk between the others and the other guppy goes do the same thing and this male would do the exactly same thing...... if anyone knows whats wrong with him... i'll be glad to kno thanks everyone for reading me!!:)
p.s: it also smells :( and its givin its odor to my room wich its like cat's pee :S, and in the top of the water it has like lil particles, i dont know what are they, but i believe that those are oxygen particles becuz of the filter becuz i left less water than usual
have a good one :D
