hey peeps
adjusted the ph level of the tank as the level was sky high and we are losing a fish a day
the tank is now very very cloudy 24 hrs later
is this normal ? will it clear ?
thanks in advance jimmy

SORRY NO FURTHER DETAILS - stumbles across this site while at work today

Need more info.
How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
How often do you maintain the tank.
What filter do you use.

yes sorry about being vague
will reply over the weekend with readings from a test kit
cloudy water is clearing up, and thankfully no more loss of life.

I wouldn't try altering the ph of your water as this can seriously damage your fish's health. The ph of my water goes off the scale [above 8], so many years ago I got some aquarium ph adjuster to bring it down as I wanted to keep discus. Anyway, I added the recommended amount to a test tank with no fish in it but it didn't change the ph at all. In the end I added half the tub and it came down, left it for 5 days and it had slowly risen back to off the scale again. If I had done this to a tank with fish in it I would imagine they would not have been very happy. Anyhow, I have heard since that some local water authorities add buffers to the water to keep the ph and hardness up to prevent corrosion in metal water pipes. Don't know if this is true but it would explain the results on that test I did. I have kept a wide variety of fish with my ph this high with no fatalities so it may be best to leave the ph alone. I have heard that the water in Kent is very high ph. Sorry for the long post :look:
