I am still having problems with cloudy water.........went out today and bought a proper test kit....

These are the results, could this be whats causing my cloudy water???

Also lost a guppie today :(

Ph level 7.6

Amonia 0

Nitrite 0.50

Nitrate 10

advise please guys

your Nitrites should be 0 looks like your tank isnt quite cycled yet but almost there, keep changing 25% water untill all your readings stabilize at 0 except for Nitrates they are ok up to 30PPM then it's time for a water change.
Cloudy water is a sign of a new tank, and or a mini cycle. GIve it time it will clear up. Just have to be patient.

but there is nothing there that could have caused the death of the guppy?

Well, you really dont know how the guppy has been treated before he was in your hands, and if he was already stressed, the nitrites may have been enough to do him in. The problems that result in stressing out fish can take weeks to take place.

The tank doesnt sound like it was finished cycling anyway, but since you already have fish you need to be doing daily water changing of about 25%. This may prolong the cycling but will be worth it.

When I got a case of ich in my saltwater tank with invertebrates, [and couldnt treat the main tank with copper] I had 6 fish to save, and a ten gallon quarantine tank. So I went and bought another 10 gallon because that was all I had room for and had 3 fish in each, and neither were cycled so I was trying everything. I ended up having to do 3 50% water changes in each every day for 2 weeks just to keep the ammonia at .25. But they eventually cycled, and the fish were all fine [except a little one who had too much ich to save :( ] So my suggestion would be to do lots of water changing, and not a ton of filter cleaning.
