A week or so ago we purchased a piece of Amazon style driftwood. The clerk told me to was it real well or it would make my tank cloudy. I soaked and shook the thing in tupperware for two days (changing the water in the tupperware too).

Is it possible that this is causing my cloudy tank?

Thanks,
Chuck S.

Will the cloudyness go away, if it is from the log? Should I toss it in the trash?

what colour is the water? is it kinda brown? if so then these are tannins coming from the wood. tannins are harmless and usually disappear after a few partial water changes

Tanins are harmless. Sometimes the wood stops leaching into the water after a few days, sometimes it takes months. If you have a versatile filter you can load it up with carbon, which will help, not to mention water changes. You can remove it, but IMO deal with the cloudyness for as long as it takes, there's no replacement for real wood in a tropical tank.
