hello! I have never had a problem with the tank clarity it has always been nothing but clear. Until the other day i gave my cichlids some peas for a treat as i hadnt given them any in a few weeks and the next day my water was clouded right up. Almost like the peas were the missing ingredient and as soon as i added them it triggered a bloom. Did a 50% water change and its a lil better but still pretty murky (if u look through the end u can barely make out the other end of the tank) After the 50% water change i noticed one of my fish is holding fry (=]) and in the last few weeks it has been quite sunny and perhaps it is brighter in my living room but the algae seems to be thriving on the rocks there are 2 sailfin plecs and a regular pleco in there as well to combat the algae. Is there something that should be done to clear up the water again or is it something that will clear up after a few water changes and some time (a bacteria bloom type thnig?) Thanks in advance for any tips u may have =]

I fed my 120 gallon peas today and it seemed to cloud my tank up a little. Are you mushing them into pieces or dropping the whole pea in? I have to mush mine into pieces as my 11 pigs (female betas) will try to swallow them whole. :p It clouds up my water a little but after an hour or two it usually clears up.

/me waves at raechal

nice avvy ;)

i warm them in luke warm water and sort give them a squish when i squeeze em outta the shells. And ya it usually gets a lil cloudy for a few hours as the pea particles disperse
but this is a few days and a water change so it seems a lil worse than the usual clouding.

Ill keep an eye on it and cross my fingers thanks for the advice! =]

/waves back :D
Thanks for the compliment hehe.

Yea, I put them in a shotglass of tank water and stick it in the mocrwave for around 10 seconds and then put the peas back in normal tank water again and leave them there for a few minutes. Then I crush them up in my tank.
