Cloudy Marine Tank

Hi all

I' just setting my tank up and have bought 20kg of live rock which has made the water cloudy. The filter is in place and the pump is powered up, will this clear over the next week or two ? The tank is 190l.

Do I need a skimmer in place to clear the water before introducing the fish ?

yeah, it will clear, its just particles of dead things and poop and sand and dust etc. And no you dont need a skimmer but you do need a cycled tank.

I put the live rock straight in the tank from the box, is this correct ? There's a slimy coat on top of the water, do I need to drain this out of the tank ?

Try pointing a powerhead at the surface to get rid of the coating. It worked for me.
