I have upgraded my Betta tank to a 10 gallon.
How long do I run the old filter in the new tank?
I want to make sure the new filter has all the bacteria it needs.

Can you just take the sponge put of the old filter and put it in the new filter?
Otherwise, leave it in for a few weeks, then take the sponge out and wedge it behind the old filter for a couple of week before talking it out completely.
Ideally you want at least some of the old filter media in the new filter :good:

I just put 1/2 old media into new filter and 1/2 new. then both still have media with benificial bacteria to grow. :D
Is the betta the only fish going into this 10gal?

Thanks for all the replies.
I will put some of the old filter media in the new filter.
Yes for the moment the betta will be the only fish in the tank.
I may put a group of dwarf corries in there if I can find any.

Right now it’s planted with two small sword plants and a piece of mopani wood.
The plants are the offspring of my large sword plant in my 45 gallon tank.
It has a sand substraight
