ok i have 2 questions:

1) my guppy gave birth today unfortunatly by the time i found them i only managed to save 11 :-( when should i start feeding them and what with

2) im going out tomorrow to by a new tank to house my guppies fry plus im expecting more in the near future so how do i clone my established tank without using filter media can i put the new filter media in my existing tank for a couple hours/days
thanks for all your help

is the filter on your new tank going to be the same size as the filter on your old tank? If so I'd just swish the old filer in your tank a little then put the filter pad in your new filter putting the new filter pad in your old filter.
But you said without using filter media. The normal method of doing this is to fill a stocking with gravel off of the top layer of your established substrate. Hang that near your filter for a week or two to be on the safe side.
another method is to move an ornament from the established tank in to the new tank.

Hi,

Since you only have a few fry i would leave them in a breeder net in the main tank for a couple of weeks and run your new filter alongside the old one, this will give the new filter a big kick start.

You can feed the fry straight away, if you don't have baby brine shrimp or liquifry just crush some normal flake to a very fine powder and feed them that. They should be fed several times a day.
