Ok, I am trying to set up a 26 gallon tank. I'm sorry if this gets long and confusing.

I have a mature 10 gallon that has had 2 filters running on it for the past couple months.

10 gallon's current stocking:
-3 emerald cories
- 1 betta
- 3 WCMMs

In a mature 29 gallon, I currently have:
- 1 BN pleco
- 7 red tetras (not sure of the type, honestly- its my dads tank, not mine)
- 5 zebra danios (just added today)
- 3 peppered cories (just added today)

The cories (all 6 of them), the danios, and the BN are supposed to go in the 26 gallon tank. I am planning on taking one of the filters from the 10 gallon and put it on the 26 gallon tank so to minimize the cycle. I could also switch some sand, if that helps.

When should I add the fish, and who should go first? I am guessing that the filter is cycled for half of the 10 gallon's occupants, which would pretty much be the emerald cories, so I could put the mature filter on the new tank and put the cories in, then what?

Sorry if that was confusing, but I basically want to know what I should do as far as cycling the tank, or preventing a cycle.

Oh, I also forgot to say that the 29 gallon has gravel, so I want to switch the peppereds to one of the other tanks ASAP to get them off the gravel.

What make & model of filters, and what are you using for media?

You are removing about half the bio load from the 10 gallon, so remove half the bio media along with the fish & add it to the filtration of the new tank.

You are removing about 2/3 of the bio load from the 29, so remove 2/3 of the bio media along with the fish & add that to the filtration of the new tank as well.

The filter without media is just a pump that forces water through the media. You don't have to have the same media in the same filter.

Ok, I see what you mean.

I am not sure about the filters. They are all HOB, but I can't be more specific than that, other than the two on the ten gallon are each made for a ten gallon tank. I don't know the names of them. The filters all have those little blue and black filter pads that have carbon in them, and is plastic and mesh on the outside.

I forgot that the 29 also has 2 long finned danios, and one 4 inch goldfish (I know he shouldn't be in there, and he is on his way to a new home in 2 weeks, before anyone says anything).

Thank you for the help. :good:
