Hey all i recently got a new tank its a 55g and currently i have a 15g that has been up for about 1 year now the filters in the 55g (one internal one external) can i put the external in the 15g to get some nice bacteria? is it possible to over filter a tak and cause it problems? also can anyone tell me how to install a external filter as looking at it i dont have a clue
Cheers
Greg

Are you keeping both tanks running?

If so run your external on your 15g for 3-4 weeks to 'cure' the media. Then move it back to your new tank.

If not run your 15g filter in your new tank along side your new external filter for 3-4 weeks. Then remove your old filter.

IMO you can't over - over filter a tank, as long as they arn't creating a whirlpool you should be fine - if they are simply adjust the flow rate accordingly.
