and I thought my hillstream’s were good climbers… I often have to remove them for the filter box, where they are often found after climbing up the discharge waterfall..

A number of different fish will leave the water to look for better spots. I would be profoundly insulted if they did it here, and would consider it very rude if they thought there were better tanks out there. But they travel.
A friend of mine found a large spiny catfish she kept had left its leaking tank and made its way to the base of her toilet one morning.
