A fancy goldfish has been taught to do tricks by its owners.

The calico fantail goldfish, aptly named Albert Einstein, has been taught to swim through hoops and push a tiny football into a goal net;

So for all of you out there that think goldfish are dumb and there for don't require anything in their tank to look at or have lots of space to swim around in, this proves that they are intelligent animals and should be treated just as well as any expensive oscar or champion betta :nod: ! I think its a real shame that some people can keep a goldfish in a 2gal tank for years and years on end, it must be an incredibly miserable life for them.

Anyways, yay for goldfish! Always knew they had a fair bit of intelligence ;) . Perhaps this should make us turn around and look at how we treat other creatures too and re-think our approach on morality towards them as well.

That's very cool! Thanks for link Toxis. :) I'd heard about Bettas doing that, but never goldfish.

all we need is ten more and we might stand a chance of earning some silverware in the next world cup.

A similar thing was recently aired on the US TV show "Mythbusters" in which the two hosts competed to see who could better train a group of Golfish to swim through a series of hoops.

cool episode - Great show
