Clearseal Hospital Tank

i have a 18 x 10 x 10 inch clearseal tank(about 6.1 uk gallons), it says i need a layer of polystrene underneath, i have two bits of polystrene but it doesnt all the tank, less than a third probably, its in two peices. Can i get away with not using any polystrene in a such a small tank for like a few weeks, or will i need it straight away? can i use the two bits i got or would that make it worse?

That would be worse i guess the idea is that it give the glass on the bottom an axact amount of pressure on each point=no braking of glass.

yeah i figured as much, can i just sit it on the desk without the pad until i get one? or am i better off not risking the glass against the wooden desk?
