I have crush coral at the bottom of my tank - what's the best way to clean it??
 
Yeah, just fold the pipe a bit to limit the flow :)
 
I usually keep the pipe at full suction but hold it further away.  Then hovering above the area, I wave/shake the tubing a bit which is often enough to lift/disturb any waste for you to suck up into the bucket!

This usually doesn't get all the crud under the gravel, though.
 
Depending on the size of the crushed coral, you could put some netting over the end of the siphon. Holes big enough that the crud can still be sucked up, but too small for the crushed coral to get through.

Valid point ;-). Depends on the substrate. I often use substrates that are finer and don't allow crud to get too low, so don't encounter an issue this way. Also depends on tubing used as to how much movement it gives...
