cleaning the outside of aquarium

I was just wondering what everyone used to clean the glass on their tank. I was not sure if using window cleaner would hurt the fish or if there is something better to use. I know i spill some water and get streaks on the outside of the tank and it just looks bad. Any comments would be appreciated.

I use windown cleaner, but I spray it on a cloth well away from the tank, also you can use vinegar.

i use aquariam glass cleaner spray on it (not aerosol) then use kitchen roll.

i just use soapy water then dry with kitchen roll, i'm a bit nervous about using chemicals anywhere around the tank

I just use the spray on window cleaner (windowlean), been doing it for years and nothing bad has ever happened to my fish.

I don't think using window cleaner will cause a problem as long as you don't spray it around the tank because then some could get in the water. You'd be fine doing as Wilder does. Personally I just take a damp towel or rag and wipe off the spots after my water changes. Keeping it clean that way is fine if you do it often enough that dirt doesn't build up on the outside.

I use plain water and one of those really soft absorbant clothes bought at the auto parts store. It's the best and easiest way I've found to get rid of those nasty water spots.

I use Windex. I just am very careful not to get it into the tank. Works nicely! ugh does anyone else get that nasty scum at the rim of the top of the tank?

So far I've just used water and a cloth but I have some spray that says it's safe to use around aquariums. I haven't tried it yet but when I do I'm going to spray it on the cloth away from the tank and then wipe it on.

I stand right next to my tank and spray window cleaner "DG Glass & Surface cleaner" from Dollar General for a buck, streak free and works better then any Higher Priced out there.......I just spray it on a rag and wipe the tank down,,,,But I don't stand there and spray it on like I'm shooting a 9mm either, just nice easy sprays.

I use methylated spirits on paper towel. Works a treat. No streaks

I use those Windowlene cloths... the ones in the pack that look like tissues already covered with windowlene.

Have to rub slowly though, spooks the fish...
