Not that i know of,when i was a complete nooby (8-9 ahah) i had one in a 2ft tropical tank with gouramis bettas, raphael catfish (same one i have now) and many more i can't rememberCleaning it with the magnets or by hand always works well, but easily the most fun is.... Apple Snails. It's awesome to see their funny little mouths & body glide over the glass and leave a clean streak behind if your tank is seriously dirty. And besides, having a giant snail in your tank is always an amusing piece of decoration and a beautiful pet. They're my personal favorite, at least.
I've heard they need cool water. Is this true?
It lived a long time and it grew nice and bigI have one of the magnet cleaners. They are good for cleaning the light stuff. They won't work on heavy algae build ups. I try to make a swipe around the tank walls with mine a couple times a week, not counting water change days. I'm not familiar with apple snails at all.
Yeh you would need hundreds to do a decent job rofl
how do magnet cleaners work
There is two magnets, one for the inside of the tank, one for the outside. They have a protective fabric on the parts touching the glass. So when you put the inside magnet in the tank (N) and put the outside magnet (S) on the outside of the glass they clamp down on the glass holding each other up.Then you move them around to clean the algae of the glass.Without needing to put your hand in the aquarium.
