Since Saturday i been having a series of deaths. I was very confused since i had done nothing to the tank. Then I remember that we having a cleaning lady who comes every friday.I believe that some sort of cleaning spray has gotten into my 40 gallon tank, not sure what kind though . I had many recent deaths now including 1 angel, 2 cardinal tetras, and 1 cory, most of the cories look very sick now? What should I do

im not sure myself but i kno that for people to help you theyll need a bit more info.

Tank size
Water Parameters eg Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and ph levels.

probably not so important but what you have in there.

Do you have a hospital tank you can use? I would move the healthiest looking fish first just to keep them from getting sick and to give the strongest the best chance to survive.

From there, you need to begin doing water changes. I would recomend doing a 50% change right now because there is obviously something in the tank. Do several smaller changes over the next few days. If your hospital tank can comfortably hold everyone, move everyone in there and begin totally emptying the tank.

Do a 10-15% water change and then get some fresh carbon or a polyfilter (or both) in ASAP - continue with daily or twice daily changes for a week. I would also increase aeration.
My Mum's tank had this when her cleaner used Pledge on her tank's lid - it took a while to work out why her fish weren't right

Do an immediate water change are you running some black carbon.

Just took 2 dead corys from my tank now :( . Now i'm doing a 50 % water change. I don't have a hospital tank for all those fish, cuz they can't go into my betta tank.

Might want to check your PH in the tank and from the tap before you do any major water changes. 1 point or even 1 1/2 isn't too bad but much more than that and I'd wait atleast a day between 50% water changes. Also try to keep the temp as stable as possible. Maybe take out 50% add 25% now and then 10% once an hour until it's full. As a note: I normally would not do more than 30% in a 3-4 day period. This is an emergency though and the fish would probably prefer an unstable temp and PH over windex.

As others have said, carbon, carbon, carbon...useful as anything in the lab, and great in the tank, too.

If the cleaning lady used an ammonia-based cleaner, it might be time for some ammo-lock crystals, too.
