can any one tell me what is the best way to clean my sand as it look  :hyper: s a bit dirty and i have been trying to find a way to keep it clean

Using just a hose vacume the substrate by starting a syphon and holding the end of the hose about half an inch (one centimeter) off the sand, the lighter particals of dirt will lift up and be pulled into the hose while the heavier grains of sand stay in the tank. It takes a bit of practice but after a few goes it gets to be second nature.

yes it does require alot of skill but once you got its easy. i have to do it every 2 or so days because my apple snail is pregnant and is eating loads.

As mentioned, the hose alone will suck it up. Just don't get to close to the sand or it will come out too (there's where the practice comes in). And if you have small fish or shrimp, don't get it too close to them either. For thosewho hate snails as much as I do, it's also a great way to get rid of snails. Any time I do a water change, I use the hose only and any snails I see are immediately a target of the hose.
