seen a lot of posts recently with people wondering how to go about cleaning sand substrates with a gravel cleaner. i just picked this up at my lfs.

its designed for biorbs, but ive found it works brilliant cleaning my sand.

first off the start up method is so much simpler than those shake-start ones, just a simple hand pump. the flow seems quite slower than others, which gives me more time per bucket to suck poo up and i can hold the end near enough right ON the sand without sucking it up, but still picking up all the crap.

must say im impressed with this, its by far the best syphon/gravel cleaner ive used yet especially for sand.

just thought id pass it on :)

i got the same thing but not under the bi orb brand name for a couple of quid at my LFS a couple of months back and its awesome.

never tried one of the shake to start i always faffed about with a jug of tank water and a funnel trying to fill the hose or sucking on it if i had to.

couple of little squeezes with this thing and your away, its great.

i kno what you mean about the flow too. jus enough for poop but doesnt grab your sand.
