What do you use to clean the outside glass on the tank or as cleaning sprays for around the tanks? I really don't want to use anything that would end up killing the fishes but I want to clean the outside glass of the tank. The only thing I have available right now would be some spray that contains ammonia so I know using that is not an option  . They just have finger print marks on them.
So what can I use?

I have 4 (2.5 gallon) tanks with 1 betta in each and a 10 gallon tank with also one betta.

I just use tank water & a paper towel.

I just use Windex, just be careful not to spray it in the tank. I spray the bottom and wipe up.

Automotive wax, liquid or paste. Works amazing. Water beeds up and can be toweled off after a few coats, just like your car. No overspray either.

I use glass cleaner without ammonia. I just make sure the lids are shut tight and am careful to not allown any overspray.

I have a cat that loves to drink from the tanks and splash the water with her paws, then walk down the front of them. I have given up on ever having all my glass clean at the same time! :hyper:

But when company is coming, I give them a going over with Windex on a paper towel. When doing this, I spray the towel in the kitchen and bring it into the living room, where the tanks are, to avoid any Windex getting into the air and settling on the water. When I am finished, I am sure to immediately wash my hands to get rid of any residue, before I inadvertently reach into the tank to adjust something.

I think Blue Lobster's idea of using wax on the glass sounds like a good one and I might give it a try. :D

I just use tap water and a paper towel...

I have 3 beach towels dedicated to use for me and my aquarium. I dip it in tank water at one end, rub the galss with it to remove dirt and finger prints, then rub it down with the dry end and it works a charm! :p

I just use a sponge and water and dry the glass off with a towel afterwards- if you have just inherited a very dirty old tank though and have to deal with the issue of limescale or other similar hard to get off things, i find using the round edge of a spoon and scraping it off the tank works a treat and doesn't scratch the tank glass either.
