Cleaning Gravel/plants

For example, if I was to plant plants like this http/members.cox.net/newcomb1/IMG/Aquari...ecember2002.jpg

I wouldn't be able to cleave the gravel, is this going to be an issue with dirty water?

If you planted that heavily I think the plants would just use whatever waste went on the gravel, that is quite heavy planting though, so if your planning it I would suggest a mosey over to the "Planted Tanks" section where they can advise better
