For me it depends on your tank.. Otos are great little algae eaters, but fragile little blighters too. A tank of 6 months or so old would be preferable in my eyes.

You will find that with otos and plecs are poop machines too thought. All that algae has to go somewhere! So you will then have to be an active member of the clean up crew whilst you syphon up the poop.!
