Hi i left my old tank in the attic for a long time with a little water in it. i want to start using it again but Algaue has popped up how do i clean the tank?

If gravel is still in the tank turf it. Use vinegar or a mild bleach solution to wash the inside of the tank. If there are lime/water stains on the tank the best way to remove them is with a razor blade(if the tank is glass) otherwise use a lot of elbow grease and something that will not scratch the aquarium. Once that is done then take it outside and rinse it with lots of fresh water using a hose. Then fill the tank and let it sit to see if it develops any leaks. If all is OK after a day or two then you should be ready to use the tank again. HTH :)

I use bicarbonate of soda and water to clean all my tanks before use . Bicarb is a very very fine abrasive and is a traditional natural household cleaner. Just make sure you rinse after use :)

Edit: forgot to mention it is about 59p a tub, and available in supermarkets in the home baking section...
