I've had algae on the glass of my 10 gallon tank for a long time, it's time to get rid of it.

There is only a very small amoung of algae on the rocks in the tank, and almost none on the live plants.

A toothbrush was not strong enough to clean it off...what are some other options? (Do I have to go buy a special brush?)

Thanks!

use a razor blade and a syphon so u remove it as u lift it off the glass with the blade

If you use the razor blade, just be careful around the silicone corners. Also, don't use it on an acrylic tank.

Thanks for the advice...and the warning.

Do all shrimp clean algae off the glass? I used to have a bamboo shrimp, but he has been gone for months. Just today I bought 4 ghost shrimp...which is why I want to clean off the glass. I can't see the shrimp very well through the algae, haha.

So...will the ghost shrimp do the job too? If not I'll just use the razor on the glass. (I'll just stay away from the corners)

Thanks again.

Ghost shrimp are just scavengers. They won't eat algae.

Algae cleaning brush+elbow grease+good tank conditions=job done....
Algae brushes are about £3, i think but check first you can use the green scourers of dish cleaners, you can use them for homemade filters so i don't see why not... No fish but a pleco would keep your glass clean, and you couldn't fit one in your tank..

yea i got a few pleco's and they normally get the job done but if not i would get one of the algae scrubbers from your petstore...as for the rocks or gravel...maybe some new ones or maybe just leave it a little algae doesnt hurt here and there
