i just got a 29 gal. tank from the neibors down the street with everything a stand 2 light strips a filter heater a top and gravel and decore. the only problem is it needs a good cleaning :/ im not sure how to get the white crusty stuff off (i think it's limw but im not sure) can any one tell me a safe way to clean the lime or what ever it is off my tank.

Hot water and Cooking Salt solution. Give it a good scrub with one of those kitchen sponges with a rough scourer on one side.

Someone shoot me if i'm wrong :dunno: but I know of people who use a vinegar/water mixture to clean aquariums particularly caclium and lime deposits around the top of the tank and on glass.

I actually clean my glass hoods this way. I take them off and scrub them with vinegar/water in the bathtub. It dissovles almost all of the deposits and rinses away very easy.

Don't know how it would affect silicone seals if used inside the tank though.
