I need a clean up crew for a 60" x 15" x 18" cichlid tank. It's rocky with only a few java fern plants and some silk ones. I had 3 syno euruptus (spelling) but unfortunately they died when I transferred everyone to the new larger tank :-( and now I have to replace them with something that will clean up the excess food from the bottom. Any suggestions?

Really with the african cichlids you are limited to just synodontis species or plecs as aanything else just wont be able to hold up too the cichlids bursts of aggression, what happened to the synos you had? :( They are normally very hardy.

I don't know - when I moved them to the big tank they got so stressed out, they committed suicide one after the other  :-( . They just curled up in a corner and died within a few hours of moving. I don't understand why - there's no ammonia, no nitrite, no nitrate, the ph is the same as the old tank - I used all the same rocks and gravel and also most of the old filter media and water. I used stresszyme in the water and it still didn't help them. :-( This was over a week ago and there's been no ammonia or nitrite spike. The others are slowly getting used to their new surroundings, but they're still not very happy. And I thought that I was doing them good by moving them to a large tank. I thought of getting some dithers so that they can see there's no danger for them and a couple of synos - maybe the same as I had coz they're like vacuum cleaners - no waste at all with them around.
