Hello all.

I Don't have a photo yet but I have found a Shellfish in my new Nano which looks a bit like a Venus flytrap. Can anyone have a guesss what it could be?

Will try to get a pic up tonight.

Cheers.

It could well be a very small clam that hitchhiked on your lr. This would be amazing as I believe they be very sensitive to water conditions so I would think the transport and time out of the water would of killed it. But maybe it was in larval form and somehow surived that way. Pics Pics Pics!!! :good:

Here are some photos. I'm colour blind so find it quite hard to see the shellfish. It's dead centre in both photos.

Any ideas?

Do you see it open and close? If it is just stationary then I would say it is prob just an empty shell. I have something similar to this on the bottom of one of my pieces of lr. It seems to have been a species of bi-valve before but now, its just to empty shell halves...

Heh, it made it this far... Something tells me moving it wouldn't be a big deal ;)

I would just be careful in removing it from it's current position. It may have a fleshy foot or hairs that are holding it and if you damage this attachment method when moved, it may have trouble attaching to its new location and could get blown around the tank and not able to open up and filter for water for nutrition :good:

Wait wait, do you want to move the clam itself, or the rock the clam is on? I shoulda figured that out. Ox is right, moving the clam itself, not a great idea. Moving the rock it's on, no big deal...

No worries. The piece of LR the CLam is on is loadbearing for just about every other piece. I think I'll leave it be. :good:

Cheers for the info guys.
