All cichlids are pure fresh (atleast the commonly traded fish in LFS).

I wouldnt keep any cichlids in a ten gallon to be honest though some dwarf species could prob fit. Its better even if you went dwarfs to get a larger tank for them to claim territory.

Ive kept 2 German Rams in a 10 gallon. Just make sure you have a fully cycled tank and all because they are delicate. They are really peaceful and you can keep them with other small fish, like guppies or a gourami. You could also get some shelldwelling cichlids. Multifasciatus are some of the smallest cichlids and they are cool to watch in their little shells.

I agree, the Multifasciatus would be great in that size tank.
