Cichlids That Eat Neatly

Hi, I was wondering if there are New World cichlids that eat without fouling their water too much.

I kept African cichlids before, and they hardly mess up their food, especially Nile tilapia and frontosa.

IME, oscars and JDs really messed up their water, while eartheaters didn't. And convicts were 50:50.

Could somebody tell me of cichlids that eat neatly, at least compared to others?

Also, I was wondering if flowerhorns(Roots in CA cichlids) mess up their food?

I don't know why I'm posting this..... Curiosity I guess.....Or maybe, since I like fish that eat well, I'm sensitive to the fact that they are throwing away some of their food without eating it!

I found that oscars arn't that messy when fed less. I used to feed my oscar more than I do now, and it would result in a cloud of particles falling down onto the sand or even the oscar spitting out pellets, moving on to some others and spitting these out. Some of the left overs the polypterus would eat. However now I'm feeding less there is practically no particles or waste food occuring, I wasn't over feeding the oscar before but now I've cut back there is definately a noticeable difference in table manners.

The smaller species are pretty neat, rams etc, severums Ive had and now have arent messy either and will dig around in the earth to find any leftovers. It depends on what you feed them really. Just give small amounts at a time, if they spit some out or it goes out the gills as it does with the larger brutes , leave them to find it before you feed anymore, sometimes they can just be lazy (especially Oscars)

IME its been the smaller cichlids that are fairly good about their table manners so to say.

my FMs, and Festivum don't spit any food out I would love to get them on a pellet but they dont touch them so its been a good flake food for them. other than that I have like shroob cut back on the amount that I am feeding the big ones espically my RD and it seems to of helped alot though my Cr. Reticulata doesn't really care and spits food about all the time.

my sev never spits food out he usually just gulps it straight down my jade eyed cichlids are quite messy eaters
