Have just converted my 240Ltr tank to a Malawi setup. All the fish in the tank are new and most of them are flashing. My tank is over 2 years old and the readings are:

Ammonia=0
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=10
PH=7.8
GH=14

Normally I would assume the flashing (which is along the gravel) would be ICH but as yet there are no obvious signs. All are eating well and show no other obvious signs such as spots, clamped fins etc that would lead me to a confirmed diagnoses. I know that ICH can sometimes affect the gills which is one possible theory or maybe it could be flukes (but nothing to back this up)? Any ideas?

Any signs of heavy breathing, are gill red and inflamed.

Breathing is normal as are the gills. It really is a hard one..apart from the flashing there is nothing wrong with these fish :/

It's just a waiting game then, maybe turn temp up abit, no gold dust look to them

Thanks for the link Wilder and the velvet idea which might well be the problem. These fish are wild and shipped in for me by my LFS. They arrive a little dull and don't color up for a while so trying to diagnose velvet when your not really sure how they should look can be tricky. Just to be sure I have medicated with Methylene Blue which covers velvet whitespote and flukes so fingers crossed.
