Cichlids Scared

when my Cichlids are swimming around the tank and I walk in they all hide.Is this normal.

how many fish do you have in the tank

Have the fish been added to the tank recently? Usually means the fish are a little frightened could be under stocked too, the more fish the more confidence they have

I have 7 fish all together in a 180 litre tank fish ocean rock and some caves.

Sounds like you could have more, if you have the filter capacity.

Could get another 5 to 10 in there easily as long as filtration can cape

Add some dithers to make the cichlids feel safe. A small school of barbs would go well in your tank as they are tough little buggers.

Dithers really are not needed in a malawi setup
