I am asuuming that you are talking about yellow labs, Labidochromis caeruleus. Diet and water parametrs wise they are ok together. Most peole do not recommend you mix different fish from different continents. I have kept convicts w/ Malawi haps in a 360 Gallon tank. I had no problems. My concern would be tank size. If the tank is too small and your convicts pair up your yellow labs could be in trouble. Convicts are very tough fish. Especially, when breeding. I am talking about adult fish not juvies. What size tank are we talking about.

If the yellow ones are yellow labs

They are extemely aggressive with the wrong tankmates and if kept in an unsuitable enviroment. I agree that tank size is very important as these fish are territorial. It is possible to keep African cichlids with American but success is few and far between and I would personally not advise it
