just a quick question do cichlid tanks cycle quicker due to a higher ph , my tank has been cycling for 2 weeks and nitrate is 0 nitrite is 0 and amonia is 0 ph at 8.2 there is 2 goldfish in there at the mo. the nitrate had been upto 20 and the nitrite up to 1.6 and only had amonia at 1.6 in the first few days then no trace

why are you cycling a cichlid tank, with coldwater fish?
wouldnt it be easier to cycle with no fish or even danios?

That seems to be an unusually quick cycle, unless you added bacteria from an existing source (used media or bio-spira) and I'd double check all the stats before making any moves. Warmer water will help the bacteria spread more quickly, but from my understanding PH shouldn't make a difference.

im using 2 goldfish because there messy and very hardy with a ph of 8.2 the amonia is more dangerous than that of a normal tank , and ther going back in my coldwater tank next then to the pond

i know it seams quick i did clean my other tank and filter and put the dirty water in my new tank its a few days later and water results still the same, no plan to add any fish for another 5 weeks as im going away for just over 2 weeks and im still not sure what im going to stock yet, but thats another post.
