i wouldent put african cichlids in there tank is to small for pretty much everything except shell dwellers and yet they shouldnet be kept with platies or mollies you could do some dwarf south americans like apistos, rams, ect...

hope this helps

ok heres something it think about..

1, The blue peacock is african. means different water parameters. Ie high Ph whre as platiesand mollys are low Ph

2, You could get a nice pair of Gold rams or Blue rams in there. maybe some apistos which come in lots of forms.

3, if you have nothing else in your tank then id do this,
Return the molly,
keep the 5 platies
get a pair of rams or apistos
get 6 corys
and 6 tetras

this would make a nice community tank plant the tank not heavily tho and just make a few caves for territorys.

Good luck :)

Platties and Mollies are not low pH Discusangel. The reason they can't go together is aggression, the cichlid will dominate the others, eventually killing/eating them.

Not all African cichlids are the same though. Kribs would work for example.

well yes, but i had a real bad aggressive pair of kribs a while back, they killed a few corys untill i removed them they may work, but i think all africans cichlids have a much worse temper than south american cichlids. they may work, they may not.

Kribs are dwellers of the bottom of the tank, they are territorial, cories do not understand territory of course you were going to have problems if you had a pair of kribs with cories.

Now back to the original topic, what about Egyptian mouthbrooders?
