Hey guys its been a while i usually would post in the old world cichlid section but since being inactive i have added new world cichlids to my 55 gallon and I was goning to post about more than the cichlids so if this is the wrong section i appologize in advance!
Also my 29 gallon tank got a huge crack and all the fish were moved to the 55 gallon and unfortunatly got ate over time by the white lined pims. The golden wonder killies I had lasted the longest and they all misteriously dissapeared after I added a dempsey and jaguar both half the size of the killies.
I repaced it with a 20 gallon long with lake tang cichlids. Four of which are brevis shelldwellers I believe the sunspot variaty, two congo calvus, one Julidochromis marlieri. I got small lace and lava rock with a single anubias and java fern and a netrite snail. So far it is my favorite looking tank. Honestly is it wise to have that many fish in a 20 gallon long i figured with the extra floor space and if they were all purchased as small as possible it would have a good shot.
My 60 gallon is now all male peacocks with 4 yellow labs 3 of which female and they breed like mad. Before i lost my jacob females i believe a bi-color male bred with one to make a suprisingly good looking hybrid male which i'll upload pictures of later.
Back to the 55 gallon which is the one i have the most questions on. The jag and dempsey are both males and there getting overly agressive towards all tank mates (except the fire eel i love this guy). The only fish that stands ground, or should i say water, is the old silver dollar which is at least 17 years old now. I had pictures of the guy a while ago on here. Ive seen him swim around with the dempsey in his mouth. For tonight the dempsey is seperated and tomorrow im getting another divider for the jag. I'll be getting a 125 soon for the cichlids and the fire eel. I may add the tinfoil barbs to it as well. With sand and lots of rock crevices for the eel do you think he will be fine in there or is he best off in the 55? Also realisticly is there enough room for the tinfoil barbs in the 125 with them. I'd really rather have them in the 55 gallon to make the silver dollar feel secure rather than craming them in a 125 with agressive cichlids if they cant take the heat.
I hope you spent the time to read all this I hope to be active again with the fish freaks
