Hey, just wondering if anyone could I.D. this cichlid for me before I start trying to track em down online. They have black eyes, white body with a pinkish tint sometimes, and all fins have a little bit of light blue "glow" to them. One has egg spots and one does not so I'm assuming they are intended to be sold as a pair. Oh, and they were in the mixed african cichlids tank at a LFS... the employee working couldn't identify them.

Any ideas?

kinda a wierd angle, but I don't think its a convict, looks like some kind of a mbuna to me. but then again, it is a wierd angle shot.

Edit:: that and convicts are not African.

It looks more slender than a Convict. Can u get a more level pic so were not looking at it from an angle? Looks like that one may have been dyed too

I don't think it's dyed. It's really not that bright of a fish. it's a really subdued even color along the body, cept the gill area which is slightly darker. the fins seem to shift color with stress.... in the store they were blue, in the bag white, and after a while at home, blue again. the lady I bought it from is gonna bring a cichlid book to her work tomorrow so maybe I'll know then.

the picture really overemphasises the color... I'll try to get a better shot when I have batteries that aren't dead

i've never heard of dyed african cichlid, they are colorful enough so I doubt it, would go with the powder blue p. scofoli for now but can't tell, you will however need to keep them in a group of at least four one male two females in a atleast a 30 gallon tank these are agresive and you should do some research gluck
