I think they can crossbreed, I'm pretty sure I've seen photos of the offspring on another site, I'll try and find them.

yes they can. i have seen it happen many times. the two are both very easy to breed, and they have also both been called the whores of the cichlid world.

Ok, back on subject!
When I feed them the firemouth mostly hides and is shy, and I dont think it gets to eat!!!!!!!!
I feed them flake foods, but tomorrow Ill be going to get another type of food. What should I get?? Pellets, freeze dry, ex....

i only use hikari and omega one. they're the two best foods out, i.m.o. i like to vary my fish' diet as much as possible. i do...

frozen krill (cause it sinks, my bottom feeders love it.)
freeze dried krill (my pikes only eat off the top.)
color enhancing flakes (every one eats them, they're especially for my srs/red shock flowerhorn.
shrimp pellets (most everyone eats them. [very high in protien]
and last but def. NOT least i use hikari massivore delite. (i break it up cause the pellets are huge! but it is loaded with tons of vitamins and minerals.)
