Is there a cure????. lol

I am going to be having a large tank re-shuffle in the next few weeks and I am going to be left with a rio 300l tank. My plecs are going into a 5ft tank but I am thinking of leaving the 2 servs, firemouth and rtbs in the 300l tank even though they all get on, the plecs need the most room. I was origionally planning on a tank with frontosa's in, but looking at all the new world cichlids I am so drawn to them too.

If you had a 300l tank with 2 servs, firemouth and a rtbs what else would you add?

I know you know, but you will eventually need to move the Sev's (well one of them anyway) to the 400, not right now as they are still small, but one day in the future, will be fine with the two plecs as well.

Nicarguan :good: Sajica :)

And once cichlid's get hold of ya, its very hard to get away, you end up wanting more, larger and prettier and they mostly need large tanks and can be brutal at times.

Spot on that is the plan for the future for the servs lol. I was thinking firemouth size cichlids for the 300l.

I was in bits last night watching my female krib displaying at the firemouth, he was really interested in her, the poor male krib was most put out. One of the little rams kept displaying at the firemouth too. It was so funny to watch. Its a good job they are in seperate tanks and can only look but not touch.

Well a nic would easily stand up to the FM mine did, in fact she spawned with him :hyper: the day before you came an got him.

The sajica should also be fine with the FM, a single convict would also go well. Flag cichlids could also be another option.

Also you could go with a blue acara, lovely fish or I know you liked my daemons, a group of those or alternatively some geoghagus would be good.

I like the look of convicts, so one of those may be on the list. The daemons are super, but I think a 300l would be a bit small for a goup. The blue acara is another on the list, its stunning

From the information I have read so far, it seems I would be better off with single fish. eg 1 firemouth 1 convict 1 blue arca etc. I guess I am just going to add some other slowly and watch what happens. At least I will have some place in the plec tank should I need to move anyone.

Yes indeed stick to single species, especially if you go for convicts, if you get a pair, you would need to remove all the other fish as they are very aggressive when spawning.

Oh and you could get Shelagh coming along to say a 300L = Oscar

Which it does, but not with the other fish in the tank.

I can't give you any better advice than Minx, I just wanted to say that the Cichlid addiction you seem to have is just inevitable, so just go with the flow :hyper: It gets to you bad in the end lol. Good luck with your tanks whichever way you choose to go.
