Chromide Fry

Orange chromide fry are very small, and are usually initially reared using infusoria and/or brine shrimp nauplii. The fry also feed on mucous from the flanks of the parents. Unlike "hardy" cichlids, which have fry that can eat algae and organic detritus in a mature aquarium, you will need to make a special effort to feed chromide fry. Although there is some debate about whether this species needs brackish water (most, but not all, experts say that it does) adding a little salt to the water when breeding does reduce problems with fungal infections of the eggs. SG 1.001-1.002 is fine for this.
