So who's treating their fish to a Christmas feast? What could you give a normal tropical community that would be a rare christmas treat?

I find a nice meal of fresh flies seems to get my fish active. Go to your local fishing shop and ask for some 'pinkies' these are larvae of greenbottle flies. Now this can be a bit dodgy seeing as you never know what the larvae have been fed on, but I know my local tackle shop tend to keep their bait clean and fresh. You don't need loads, just get 50p worth of them and feed them keep them warm (not hot as they will die) they will turn into casters (small brown cuccoons) then after that they'll hatch into greenbottles. Now once you have your flies, put them in the freezer for 30mins to make them cool down and stop trying to fly away.

Then take them to your fish drop them in and close the lid to the tank (and your bait box) very quickily. They will wake up as soon as they feel warm enough. As for the poor unfortunate ones in the tank... well I always enjoy seeing the feeding frenzy my fish have when they see a few of the live food on the water surface hehe.

ps. don't use anything bigger than greenbottles. I've seen my panchax gulp down a couple of blue bottles that stupidly found their way into my tank, but at the expense of having to rest for 10mins to digest its rather large meal.

How about heating a 300g swimming pool in the yard for a big christmas swim :p lol

Bought some silversides and live brine shrimp/blood worm for them.

bought them a new broken ship and just fitted my new penguin 350's as an early treat truely a gift we can all enjoy,

p.s. how do fish feel about mince pies ^_^

i've given them salmon if i could  but you know, all the oil and fats and all..
